Consulate of Sweden’s Swedish Research Institute visits İU’s Central Library

A seminar titled "Transformations of Public Space" was held by the Swedish Research Institute on November 29, 2016. In the seminar, architectural and visual arts from 1950 to 1980 were discussed in Istanbul and the features of architectural structures belonging to late modern times and whether or not they should be protected as "cultural heritage" were discussed.

The seminar assessed the changing aspects of İstanbul's architectural transformation from 1950 to 1980 the values of architecture related to the public sphere and the often neglected late modern urban transformations.

After the seminar, on the excursion framework, visits and negotiations were held at the IU Central Library, one of the paragons of "late-period architecture", which is a prize-winning project covering the "late works" organized by the General Director of the Swedish Research Institute of Sweden Consulate.
