Turnitin Training Meeting Has Been Held
Our university has conducted a training session on a newly-launched web-based TURNITIN system in order to prevent improper citations and plagiarism in thesis dissertations submitted at our institutes along with a subscription system on February 17, 2015 at the Culture and Congress Center of Istanbul University.
Training was started by Altan Gürsel representative of Turnitin system in Turkey at 10.00 am and lasted for about 3 hours. 225 people attended the meeting held with the participation of the Institute Directors, academics and dissertations advisors. Library and Documentation Center Director Dr.Pervin Bezirci in her brief opening speech talked on studies in the Central Library following a general information about the library underlying the newly added database and e-books for scientific studies.
Educator Altan Gursel stressed that the dissertations loaded into the system are automatically compared to a very large repository source. In the data pool of Turnitin exist academic databases, journals and -in addition to publications- a collection of more than 200 million student papers and more than 17 billion web pages also examples of reports of similar publications scanned at the pool were cited.
