Consul General of Belarus Aleksei Shved and Director of Belarus National Library Raman Matulski visit Rector of Istanbul University’s Rector prof. Dr.Mahmut Ak in his office. During the visit, opportunities for mutual cooperation in the field of education were discussed and a cooperation protocol was signed between the Belarusian National Library and Istanbul University.

Prof. Dr Mahmut Ak said that İstanbul University in Turkey was selected as a pilot in internationalization of universities project . "There are 8.834 international students from 154 countries in our university," said Prof. Mahmut Ak. National library of the University of İstanbul in Turkey with the only university stating there are approximately 2 million works in the libraries within the university and said: “We have a library of rare works in the general library. There are 100 thousand works there. Ottoman manuscript works include works of 1500s written in Latin letters. In addition to visual and printed publications, we also offer international electronic data to our students. We also organize scientific meetings, exhibitions and fairs. All faculties of our university have a long history. Even the libraries of our faculties are rich in comparison to libraries of many universities. ”
“We Are Always Ready For Cooperation”
Belarus Consul General Aleksei Shved started his speech by stating that he was happy to visit Istanbul University. Saying that they are always ready for the collaborations with Istanbul University, Shved said: “Our country's high school experience is quite high. We have 51 universities, 9 of which are private. We have 23 thousand international students from 180 countries. In this context, we are very proud of the Turkish students joining our universities. We can support the exchange of university lecturers. We are in favor of a double major diploma program. If you are interested in other universities in the region, we will always support you. ”
Cooperation Protocol
Aleksei Shved, Consul General of Belarus and Raman Matulski, Director of the National Library of Belarus along with Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak,Rector of İstanbul University, took a concrete step was taken during his visit cementing the cooperation protocol signed between the Belarusian National Library and İstanbul University. During the visit, it was agreed to further develop the cooperation in the field of education.
