Proquest and Elsevier databases training have been carried out.
Training activities related to the more efficient use of databases provided by our library are carried out with the participation of experts of national / international publishing houses. Two separate databases, namely "Proquest Databases Training Seminar" on June 1, June 2018, and "Elsevier Scientific Research Resource and Solutions Training" on June 5, 2018, were further carried out. Both trainings were held at İU’s Congress and Culture Center and 40-45 members participated.
Hazal Yilmaz, a Proquest training department officer, focused on how to search results in Ebook Central, ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global and Health_medical Collection databases, and how to filter out the results. Benefits of opening individual accounts in databases and recording the results; notes on articles or books, marking, as well as the details of creating search warnings by saving the search strategy. The details on where the citation information can be obtained when you are using resources in your own work have been provided.
This training, including current developments and changes, has been presented by Said Sak from Elsevier publishing company under three main headings: Mendeley Reference Management System, Science Direct and Scopus.
The Science Direct database provides details on innovations and research strategies, emphasizing how article essays and citation information in Scopus can enhance research. In selecting the right source for produced publications, the evaluation criteria of the local and global academic literature included in Scopus have been pointed out from different perspectives.
